چکیده

Metals, semiconductors, metamaterials, and various two-dimensional materials with plasmonic dispersion exhibit numerous exotic physical effects in the presence of an external bias, for example static magnetic field or electric current. These phenomena range from Faraday rotation light propagating bulk to strong confinement directionality guided modes on surface are a consequence breaking Lorentz reciprocity these systems. The recent introduction relevant concepts topological physics, translated condensed-matter systems photonics, has not only given new perspective some topics by relating certain properties media phenomena, but also led discovery regimes truly unidirectional, backscattering-immune, surface-wave propagation. In this article, we briefly review nonreciprocity topology describe their manifestation materials. Furthermore, use classify discuss different classes existing interfaces

Plasmonics in Topological Insulators

With strong spin-orbit coupling, topological insulators have an insulating bulk state, characterized by a band gap, and a conducting surface state, characterized by a Dirac cone. Plasmons in topological insulators show high frequency-tunability in the mid-infrared and terahertz spectral regions with transverse spin oscillations, also called “spin-plasmons”. This paper presents a discussion and ...

Ultraviolet and visible range plasmonics in the topological insulator Bi1.5Sb0.5Te1.8Se1.2.

The development of metamaterials, data processing circuits and sensors for the visible and ultraviolet parts of the spectrum is hampered by the lack of low-loss media supporting plasmonic excitations. This has driven the intense search for plasmonic materials beyond noble metals. Here we show that the semiconductor Bi1.5Sb0.5Te1.8Se1.2, also known as a topological insulator, is also a good plas...

Metallic metamaterials and plasmonics.

Our ability to control and harness light is undergoing a revolution, one that exploits the special properties of metals and our ability to structure them on a subwavelength scale. The materials that enable such control involve plasmonic and metallic metamaterials, materials that provide challenges for physicists and engineers that demand a multi-disciplinary approach. In June 2010, Alastair Hib...

All-passive nonreciprocal metastructure

One-way propagation of light, analogous to the directional flow of electrons in the presence of electric potential difference, has been an important goal in the wave-matter interaction. Breaking time-reversal symmetry in photonic flows is faced with challenges different from those for electron flows. In recent years several approaches and methods have been offered towards achieving this goal. H...
